Which devices will be compatible with the API?
As long as your device is programmable and has an Internet connection, it's compatible with our API. Anything from an x86 computer to a Raspberry Pi will work. Have a question about a device compatibility? Just ask.
Is there a maximum number of devices I can connect to the API?
No! Connecting your one thousandth device to our API is no different than connecting your first. Devices are easily registered with the EDG Client Portal web application. Additionally, you can register devices with our API, allowing you to automate your production process at scale.
How could a hardware manufacturer leverage the API?
First, embed our API example snippets into your devices so they can communicate with EDG’s platform. Next, use our EDG Client Portal app to register your devices, and assign them to your customers. Finally, use our API in your own mobile or web application to allow your customers to read data from your devices, and even send them commands.
Don’t want to write your own app, or maybe your customers want to write their own? You can invite your customers to the EDG Client Portal.
Is the API limited to IoT data or sensor data?
Any data is supported, as long as it can be transmitted to our platform in JSON format. This makes our platform especially useful for businesses that need to collate data from different sources that don’t play nicely together.
